Ponoka's Annual Christmas Light Display Scheduled to Light Up Saturday night
Ponoka’s annual Christmas light display at Lions Centennial Park is expected to light up on Saturday evening, December 9. Thanks to a generous $5,000 donation from the Ponoka Lions Club, the light display has expanded once again this year and will be bigger and brighter than ever. In fact, this year’s display will feature at least 100,000 more lights than last year – almost doubling the number of Christmas lights in the park this season. “Now visitors have 100,000 more reasons to come and visit Ponoka,” said Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson, adding, “The Town of Ponoka would like to thank the Ponoka Lions Club for their generous donation once again this year. The magic of the Lions Centennial Park Christmas light display is an important part of the holiday season in Ponoka.” “Our hope is the holiday light display will not only delight and entertain our local citizens and their families, but will attract many visitors to Ponoka as well,” said Mayor Ferguson. Citizens are encouraged stroll through the park this weekend and marvel at the beauty of the festive light display. If you wander off of the paved walkways to view the lights, please be mindful of lighting cords on the ground that are not yet covered by snow.
