It was another year of e-scooters for many communities in central Alberta including Lacombe, Blackfalds, Red Deer, and Sylvan Lake. Now that the winter months have arrived the scooters are out of season.
According to Neuron, the main e-scooter operator in Lacombe, Blackfalds, and Sylvan Lake riders racked up over 128,000 kilometers on e-scooters this year. The average trip was 2.2 kilometers taking around 14 minutes.
The company claims e-scooter trips also resulted in purchases made at local businesses within those municipalities. They say up to 27 per cent of ridership are those who are 16 to 27 years-old.
