During the Lacombe County Organizational Meeting on October 24, 2023, Councillors unanimously reappointed Division 3 Councillor Barb Shepherd as Lacombe County Reeve for a third one-year term. In a demonstration of confidence and unity, Councillor Shepherd assumed the Reeve’s role, affirming her dedication to the County. The Oath of Office was administered by County Manager Tim Timmons, underscoring the solemnity of the occasion.
“Reeve Shepherd has demonstrated unwavering dedication to her role as Reeve of Lacombe County,” said County Manager Tim Timmons. “We look forward to her continued, steadfast leadership during the upcoming year.”
Reeve Shepherd, who has previously served as Reeve since 2021, spoke of the honour of this position.
“I always heard former Reeve Paula Law speak about the privilege of being elected as Reeve, and I understand now what she meant,” shared Reeve Shepherd. “I thank my fellow councillors for their support, trust, and confidence in me and appreciate the opportunity to serve Lacombe County in this capacity once again.”
Division 1 Councillor John Ireland was also re-elected as Deputy Reeve, securing a second two-year term in that role, a testament to his exceptional service to the community.
“Reeve Shepherd’s leadership has been truly inspiring, and I am honoured to continue serving as Deputy Reeve,” stated Deputy Reeve John Ireland. “Together with our fellow Councillors, we remain committed to advancing the well-being of Lacombe County and its residents.”
