It was a matchup between two champions: the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens out of Alberta and the Humber Hawks out of Ontario.

The Queens came into this fifth/sixth placement match after dropping their first one of the tournament, before winning their second and then would lose their third match of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer Championships. This loss dropped them out of medal contention and would end up facing the Humber Hawks, who are the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Champions, in the placement game.

Coming into the championships in Quebec, the Hawks were placed fifth in the nation and the Queens were sitting in 12th.

The Queens fall to the Hawks 2-0 and would finish in sixth place at the CCAA Women’s Soccer Championships.

The players of the game went to Sofia Quinteros of the Queens and Hawks captain Remi Pelletier. Quinteros played yet another outstanding 90 minutes in the midfield.

This capped off an impressive season where they went 11-1 in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) regular season and saw them break a couple of records like the ACAC Most Goals by a Team in a Single Season with 89 tallies on the year. It was an amazing season for the Queens Soccer program.
