At 10:48 a.m., on Sunday (June 23) Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Red Deer, Ponoka, Innisfail, and Stettler.

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms will develop this early this afternoon and move eastward the evening.

Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees, and blow large vehicles off the road. Severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather.
