Environment Canada has now issued a snowfall warning for most parts of Central Alberta. The warning was sent out at 3:55 pm Sunday afternoon. Earlier in the day a Special Weather Statement had been issued calling for a mix of freezing drizzle and the first significant snowfall of the season.

Snowfall is expected tonight and Monday, with total amounts of 10 to 15 cm. Heavy snow will begin tonight in central Alberta and spread south on Monday.

Snowfall amounts may vary significantly as some of the snow will melt on contact with the warm ground.

Snow will end on Tuesday.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
