The Town of Sylvan Lake has announced that it will kick off the new year in style with New Year's Day fireworks.

The fireworks will be set up near the pier area and will start at around 7 pm tonight, January 1st. The town is asking that you give the crew a lot of room to work.

The pier and surrounding area will be closed to public access on New Year's Day for fireworks set up and for 30 minutes after the show. They will also be delaying the Winter Village lights until 30 minutes after the fireworks. They ask that you please respect all staff, barricades and signage in place.

As far as weather goes, it looks like Saturday may be one of the warmest we've had in awhile. Environment Canada has forecasted a high of minus 11 for Saturday.
