The Alberta Government will be suspending the full provincial fuel tax starting on January 1st. The suspension will take effect for six months.
That means Albertans filling up at the pumps will be saving 13 cents per litre until June of 2023.
“These are meaningful savings that will have a real impact on Albertans’ finances. For example, if you drive a pickup truck and fill up once a week, you’ll save about $440 on average in the next six months. If you drive a car or an SUV, you’ll save anywhere from $160 to just over $300,” said Finance Minister, Travis Toews.
Since the fuel tax suspension began in April of 2022, Albertans have seen about $850 million in fuel tax savings.
