Due to elevated levels of fecal bacteria currently residing in the water, Alberta Health Services has issued a water quality advisory for Gull Lake at Aspen Beach and Buffalo Lake at Rochon Sands.

This water advisory has been put into effect as of Friday, July 31st, 2020.

AHS is advising that people do not swim or wade in the water at either of those locations.

Water containing elevated levels of fecal bacteria can cause stomach issues such as vomiting or diarrhea, as well as skin, ear, and eye infections if come into contact with the water.

If you come in contact with the water on either of these beaches, it's recommended you avoid contact with their face/mouth and wash your hands after touching the lake water.

Never drink or cook with the water, as even boiling does not kill these water-borne organisms.

AHS will continue to monitor the fecal levels at both lakes for any changes.

Signage has been put in place in both areas, and the advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
