At around 3:30 pm, Sunday, March 3rd, Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning for most parts of Central Alberta.

Extremely cold wind chills near -40 are expected overnight and early Monday morning. Plugging in your vehicle overnight is recommended and make sure you are prepared to drive as well with an emergency kit in your vehicle.

Temperatures will moderate on Monday, but extreme cold may return Monday night.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant. If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
