There has been some exciting volleyball action this week at The GaryW. Harris Canada Games Centre in Red Deer. The 2023 Women's ACAC volleyball championships started on Wednesday.

Friday night, The RDP Queens had a tough test as they faced off with a Lakeland College Rustlers team who swept the Polytechnic back in November.

RDP would fall in three straight sets with the final set being quite the battle as the Queens tried to find another gear to extend the match. Libero Frankie Sandini was awarded the player of the match as she stood out with 20 digs.

Sandini and the Queens still have a chance for a medal as they face off with their South Division rivals, the Lethbridge College Kodiaks, in the bronze medal match at 3 pm. Come on out and support the Queens in their final volleyball match of the season.

On the other hand, the Kings would sweep the host Keyano College Huskies in three straight sets. This was a huge win for the team after they narrowly beat out the Lakeland College Rustlers last night in five sets. Outside-hitter Colby Nemeth picked up the player of the match honour as once again he was fiery from the service line with four aces with that high-velocity top-spin serve. The Polytechnic will look to make it three straight as they take on the Briercrest College Clippers at 6 pm
