The Red Deer Rebels played their final game of 2022 and went out with a bang.

Once again it was a lopsided affair against The Edmonton Oil Kings as they beat their provincial rival 6-2 Friday night.

The Rebels opened the scoring with a goal from Jayden Grubbe and ended the first period with a 3-1 lead.

Kai Uchacz who had back to back games with a hatrick this week, made it a 4-1 game with his league-leading 30th goal of the season early in the second period.

Hunter Mayo and Kalan Lind also scored for the Rebels who lead 6-2 after two periods. There was no scoring in the third.

In the last three games, the Rebels have out scored their opponents 17-4.

Red Deer will play their first game of 2023 New Year's Day against Calgary.
