The Red Deer Arts Council is inviting the public to check out the work of local artist Kathleen Polson. Polson has set out to recapture the beauty of vintage objects that speak to a simpler time and slower pace of life.

Searching out objects from the 50s, 60s and 70s, at antique stores, people’s homes, and her own basement, has inspired her to capture them in a modern way that makes an interesting visual experience and takes the viewer on a journey down memory lane.

“Using watercolours and oil paints, I hope to create fun, colourful and beautiful works of art depicting vintage items and to create nostalgic feelings. It has been fun to search out old items like roller skates, vintage bicycles, or a ’60s telephone with a handset and a cord that my grandson doesn't even know how to use,” it reads from her artist statement.

Vintage Charm: Works by Kathleen Polson will be available to check out from November 22 to January 3 at the Kiwanis Gallery at the Red Deer Public Library.
