Jan. 7, 2024, at approximately 6:52 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP responded to a report of a hit and run involving a pedestrian. This occurred north of the intersection of Powerline Road and Highway 611 west. Upon arrival, a 24-year-old woman was located deceased.
Maskwacis RCMP can report that the vehicle involved in this fatality has been located and the driver and passengers of the vehicle were positively identified.
The police investigation is still ongoing but Maskwacis RCMP can say that the victim was walking from one residence to another along a gravel road when she was hit. A short time later a passer by called 911 and help arrived shortly after.
The investigation continues.
