Over the past few weeks our Sunny 94 team has been helping out with the Lacombe and District FCSS Meals on Wheels Program. It is something that we have been doing for almost 15 years.
On average there are between 10-15 meals delivered daily in Lacombe. The food is picked up at the Lacombe Senior Citizen's Lodge.
Not only is it delivering food but also a daily check on some of Lacombe's older residents, and a chance for social interaction.
If you are interested in the program, the meals are healthy, low-fat, low-salt, and preservative-free. Meals can be chosen from a monthly menu. Frozen meals are also available for a lower cost.
Overall, whether you’re looking for a fresh meal, or looking to give back to the community this is such an excellent program to get involved with.
Right now the program is looking for coordinators for the months of April and August. The coordinators will correspond with FCSS to find and organize drivers to deliver meals on wheels.
