According to reports on social media, there have been multiple sightings of a large cougar in the Crestview area in Sylvan Lake. The cougar was spotted Monday night in the disc golf park on the south end of town.

People walking in the area are asked to use extra caution.

Pet owners should always make certain their dogs are on a leash when using the park.

If you are planning on using local trails, Fish and Wildlife Canada advise that you travel in groups, make a lot of noise, and avoid walking in the early morning or overnight period as cougars are usually nocturnal.
