On May 6th, Mayor Mike Yargeau and Staff Sergeant Ihme, Innisfail RCMP, met with local businesses to discuss safety and ways in which to mitigate risk for themselves, their staff and business.

When appointed as head of the Innisfail RCMP Detachment, Staff Sergeant Ihme committed to having a strong presence in Penhold. This is being achieved by holding town meetings, having an RCMP presence at town events, and regular patrols throughout the community.

“We are very pleased with Staff Sergeant Ihme’s commitment to ensure a strong RCMP presence in Penhold. Our protective services department in partnership with the RCMP help ensure our community is a safe and secure place where we can live, work and raise a family.” Mayor Yargeau stated.

Town Council approved an Annual Performance Plan Agreement with RCMP Innisfail Detachment identifying three key priorities:

1. Traffic Safety – Proactive Traffic Enforcement

2. Crime Reduction – Property & Drug Crime

3. Police / Community Relations – Visibility of Police

In a relaxed setting, two of the three key priority areas were achieved as business owners/managers were able to share their challenges and successes with each other and learn ways in which to reduce potential crime and mitigate risks.

Staff Sergeant Ihme, "The Innisfail RCMP are thankful to the town of Penhold for setting this meeting. Community consultation is a priority for the detachment and we strive to be receptive of citizen feedback and in line with the community needs."
