Public parking rates at Alberta Health Services (AHS) facilities, including the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, are increasing starting on April 1.
The daily rate at the hospital will increase by $0.50, with an hourly rate now of $1.50 per half hour, $9 for 24 hours, or $10 for underground parking.
Weekly rates will also increase to $39, or $59 monthly.
Fees pay for parking structure maintenance and new builds, and have not been adjusted in more than eight years.
“No healthcare dollars go towards parking services at AHS facilities,” the AHS website said. “AHS parking is required to be financially self-sustaining, and AHS is responsible for all maintenance costs, as well as the costs for the construction of any new parkades."
