Walk A Mile In Her Shoes, is returning to Red Deer on Wednesday, September 13th.

This annual event raises funds and awareness to end gender-based and domestic violence, allowing The Outreach Centre to provide supports, advocacy and services to individuals and families experiencing violence.

Myles Peake, the Director of Fund Development for The Outreach Centre in Red Deer talks about the event. "It's an initiative to, well, walk a mile, in support of victims of gender and  sexualized violence or rape. So  basically once a year we host an event in which teams and participants, come and put on some red high heels if they choose. People pledge and we fundraise with that to go towards our clients and those programs."

Putting on an annual event like Walk A Mile, takes a lot of background effort from many volunteers and workers. Peake explains that it wouldn't be possible without help from donors and sponsors. "We can't do this event without support and first off a big thanks to John Donald and Heather Knoll who are big supporters of our organization. Also Service Credit Union, The Downtown Business Association, who we've partnered with this year, and Central Alberta Co-op who will be doing the BBQ and feeding people there."

If you would like to take part in this event, you are asked to pre-register by September 12th.
