Sunday, May 12th, is Mother's Day. Weatherwise it looks like it should be a good day for Mother's across Central Alberta to get out and enjoy the much-deserved special day.

Around Central Alberta there are many events happening for Mother's Day. Here are a few that you can check out.

In Lacombe, St. Stephen Church will be holding a special Mother's Day Tea. The event runs from 1-3:30 on Saturday, May 11th.

Marilyn Maloney who is involved with the event talks about the tea party. 

"We're putting on our first annual Mother's Day weekend tea, and we're so excited. We are trying to make it a very fun event for mothers, grandmothers, sisters, husbands, or whomever would like to come. You will get either apple pie and ice cream or Strawberry Shortcake and tea."

Maloney also says there will be more than just food. "We will have one of our parishioners who is a very good professionally trained singer. She's going to be singing at 2:45. We will also have a few silent auction items, a photo booth set up, and a craft table for kids who can make a little craft for their mother to take home."

Tickets will be available at the door $10.00 for adults, kids, three years to six years old, $5

In Red Deer, The Kerry Wood Nature Centre is holding a Mother's Day Family Picnic from 11:30-1:30 on Sunday, May 12th. You are asked to come down with your own picnic lunch to enjoy the outdoors. There will be games and some friendly family competition. 

No Alcohol or pets please.

Also in Red Deer, The Cronquist House will be holding a Mother's Day Tea. It will run on Saturday, May 11th, from 12-2 and 2:30-4:30.
