BGC has Wolf Creek students covered for unexpected snow days.

The School’s Out Day for Inclement Weather program runs when Wolf Creek announces school closures by 8 p.m. the night before.

The program is geared towards students Kindergarten to grade six, and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

To ensure students get a spot in the program, parents are required to register their children right away.

Ponoka Youth Centre Executive Director Beth Reitz says there are about 30 spaces available for Lacombe students, and additional spaces in Bentley and Rimbey, but spots do fill up quickly.

“Parents really need it because they have to go to work,” she said.

Throughout the day, students participate in a mix of activities, from gym time to crafts.

“The days are planned in advance, and it will be just like our other full day programs,” Reitz said. “There will be a variety of activities that are based on the theme of that day, which would be announced at the school closure time.”

To register a child in the program, visit the BGC Wolf Creek Ponoka Youth Centre Facebook page, or their website here.

If a closure is announced, parents will receive an email to register for programming.
