Servus Arena in Red Deer is going to be getting a lot of national attention over the next six days.

The Co-op Canadian Open, Grand Slam of Curling will run in Red Deer from Tuesday January 16th to Sunday, January 21st.

This event features 32 of the top teams from around the world. The 16 men's and women's teams will compete over the week in a round-robin tournament, with the top 8 advancing to the quarterfinals. The finals will run on Sunday starting with the men's at 10:30 am and the women's at 3:00 pm.

Some of the men's teams playing include: Team Casper and Dropkin from U.S.A, Team Brunner and Schwaller from Switzerland, Team Craik and Mouat from Scotland.

The Canadian men's teams include: Team Bottcher, Carruthers, Dunstone, Gushue, Koe, and McEwen. 

On the women's side the international teams include: Team Fujisawa from Japan, Team Constantini from Italy, Team Gim and Kim from South Korea, Team Hasselborg and Wrana from Sweden, Team Morrison from Scotland, and Team Peterson and Strouse from U.S.A. 

The Canadian women's teams include: Team Cameron, Campbell, Einarson, Homan, Jones, and Lawes.

The first matches start at 8:00 Tuesday, January 16th.
