The Delburne Food Bank and the Central Alberta Women's Emergency Shelter were both recipients of donations or cash  from the Central Alberta Mayors and Reeves Group.

During the group’s Dec. 20 meeting, attendees brought food bank donations and held a draw.

“Each representative's community was entered into a draw to determine which community food bank would receive the non-perishable donations,” a Town of Penhold media release said.

In addition to the food bank donation, the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter was gifted nearly $1,000 in cash donations.

The group is coordinated by the Town of Penhold, and includes mayors, reeves, and representatives from municipal advocacy groups from over 40 communities throughout central Alberta.

Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau coordinates meetings quarterly to collaborate, network, and discuss municipal challenges and triumphs, the release said.

The group will meet again in the spring.
