The Clive Athletic and Agricultural Society will be hosting a cornhole tournament this Saturday, September 9th. The tournament is a fundraiser for upgrades to the Clive Arena.

The Clive Athletic and Agricultural Society has been working to fundraise for the arena since the spring and they are already working on completing the $183,000 upgrade to the facility’s ice plant.

“It’s in progress right now. They are working on getting the ice plant set up and ready to go in time for the new season,” said Diane Krochak, Board Member of the Clive Athletic and Agricultural Society.

The Society has been able to afford the upgrade through donations from the public, grants, and through fundraisers like the First Annual Clive Bullarama which happened in May of 2023.

“It was incredible to reach our goal in less than six months. [It's worth] a huge pat on the back to all of our community members that helped us out there,” added Krochak.

Now the Clive Athletic and Agricultural Society has two new projects slated for the Clive Arena that was originally built in the 80’s. They are hoping to do some concrete restoration and add two new dressing rooms to the facility.

Concrete restoration would allow further usage of the facility for sports like pickleball and inline skating. Krochak says a bit of extra space is needed for when there are tournaments at the facility.

“We kind of have a little bit of shortage on the dressing rooms. We're hoping to do a renovation and make it so that we can build two more dressing rooms in the back and just make it so that it's a little bit more accessible for everyone,” said Krochak.

The Cornhole tournament will be a fundraiser for those projects. Registration begins at 10:00AM on Saturday, September 9 at the Clive Arena. However, early registration is encouraged. You can register online here.

Krochak is expecting it to be a pretty fun weekend in the Village of Clive.

“We're expecting to have a whole bunch of cornhole games. We've got a bar on site and we're going to have Rusty's Grill, food truck on site as well to provide us with some food. We've got a pretty good day planned. It also coincides with the Clive Village-wide garage sale,” added Krochak.
