The Ponoka Santa Claus Parade is on Friday, November 17th and there will be tons of holiday themed events happening around the town.  Here's a look at what's going on. 

 

Santa Claus Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony  

The Santa Claus Parade will kick off at 5:30PM and will wrap-up with a tree lighting ceremony at the lot beside the old library building at 48th Avenue and 51st Street. Ponoka Town Council and Ponoka will be stepping off their floats to light the tree at around 6:15PM. You can also view a livestream of the tree lighting by heading to the Town of Ponoka’s Facebook page.

Ponoka Community Market 

A Ponoka Community Market will be next to the tree lighting ceremony from 3:00PM to 7:30PM that night.  

 

Almost Midnight Madness 

Local businesses will be open late for The Ponoka and District Chamber of Commerce’s Almost Midnight Madness. Don’t forget your Passport to Christmas to earn stamps for every $10 you spend for a chance to win some prizes.  

 

Holiday Fireworks Display  

The Town of Ponoka and Ponoka County have teamed up to put on a holiday fireworks display. The fireworks will begin at 7:15PM and can be viewed from the downtown area or near the parking lot near the baseball diamonds at 46 Street and 43 Avenue.  

 

Coming Soon to Ponoka 

The holiday fun doesn’t stop after the parade. Here’s a look at other events happening in the Town of Ponoka throughout the holiday season:  

  • Christmas light display at Lions Centennial Park;  
  • Self-guided community Christmas lights tour;  
  • Ponoka Festival of Trees from November 29 to December 3 in support of the Ponoka and District Health Foundation. The Town of Ponoka will be sponsoring the Family Day Country Christmas (Family Fun Day) on Saturday, December 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and  
  • CP Holiday Train will roll into Town once again on Thursday, December 7 at 5 p.m.
