The Lacombe and District FCSS will be hosting a Seniors Expo early next week (October 23 and 24). This will be the first seniors expo the organization has run in Lacombe and there are two portions to the event.

On Monday, October 23rd, the event will kick off with a visit from Hal and Joanne which is open to anyone in the community.

For 25 years they've been together and they've done the body break commercials, but we're all over TV through the 80s and 90s. They were on the Canadian Amazing Race. They're going to share a little bit about their story of that and they just teach people and inspire people how to live a healthy balanced life,” said Wendy Griffin, Community Projects Coordinator with the Lacombe FCSS.

That event is happening at 7:00PM at the Lacombe Memorial Centre but the doors open at 6:30PM.

Hal and Joanne created a little video for Lacombe already.

Tickets for Monday’s event can be ordered ahead of time at the Lacombe FCSS Office or purchased at the door.

On Tuesday, October 24th local seniors can select local sessions to take part in. According to Griffin there are lots of session to choose from and they will be running all day from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.

“We have amazing speakers and sessions for them to choose from. The GeriActors, are an acting group out of Edmonton and are coming down to do a performance in the afternoon. Joe Social Media is doing a little session on tips in the new digital age for seniors, so they're doing that in the afternoon. Our MLA will be in the house to do an opening remarks as well,” explained Griffin.

The FCSS is asking the public to pre-register for those session and you can do that by emailing info@lacombefcss.net, by calling their office at 403-782-6637 or by visiting their office at the Lacombe Memorial Centre.
