Lacombe City Council approved the 2024/2026 Strategic Plan update, outlining council’s priorities for the remainder of its term.

A workshop was held in April, where council prioritized and ranked Strategic Plan tactics.

"This update to one of the city's vital planning documents ensures city operations align with the expectations of the citizens we serve," Mayor Grant Creasey said. "This collaborative update to our Strategic Plan will ensure city operations, services, and infrastructure are efficient, timely, and effective for years to come."

This year, the strategic planning update included providing council with a survey that included all the ongoing plan tactics and the opportunity to submit new ideas.

Council worked through the survey as a group, ranking the tactics based on consensus priorities.

High-priority tactics in the plan include:

  • Advocating for the further expansion of the Lacombe Lodge

  • Further collaboration with the Downtown Area Redevelopment Committee to implement recommended projects

  • Updating the city’s Municipal Development Plan and Area Structure Plans to attract and retain investment

  • Building a new public works facility

  • Building a new fire hall

  • Continuing to fund road maintenance

  • Strengthening community partnerships to expand recreation and social offerings

By updating the plan, the city can document completed tasks and effectively plan for ongoing and upcoming work.
