The Mary C. Moore Public Library in Lacombe will be celebrating the 14th Birthday of Splouffe the goldfish.

On Saturday, May 27th the library will be commemorating the day with a special come-and-go party. Guests are invited to enjoy some snacks, hear some fishy stories, make a Splouffe bookmark, and even sign his guest book.

LacombeOnline asked Splouffe about how he was feeling about the milestone and he was speechless.

14 years may seem like a long life for the fish but some varieties of goldfish can live up to 30-years-old! The oldest living goldfish on record was Tish who lived to be 43-years-old. Tish is in the Guinness Book of World Records and lived with a family in the UK.

Goldfish can only live a long time if they are well taken care of and the Mary C. Moore Public Library seems to be the perfect home for Splouffe. The library’s goldfish is well-known for taking part in story time with Miss Mary.

Although children’s programming has wrapped up for the summer, Splouffe is looking forward to the Summer Reading Program which is set to begin on July 4th for children aged 2-13. For more information on that, click here.
