In April of 2023, Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP initiated an investigation into an alleged drug house in Rocky. RMH partnered with SCAN Calgary as the investigation progressed.
On Oct. 5, 2023, RMH General Investigations Service (GIS), with the assistance of Blackfalds and Sylvan Lake GIS, RCMP Police Dog Services and Blackfalds Traffic Services, executed a search warrant on this residence.
As a result of the search warrant, RCMP seized 46 grams of suspected cocaine, along with a firearm.
Donald Douglas (63), Dante Douglas (19), and a 16-year-old youth, all residents of RMH, have been charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of an unauthorized firearm
- Unsafe storage
After Judicial Interim Release Hearings, all three accused have upcoming court dates at Alberta Court of Justice in RMH. Donald was remanded into custody and his next court date is Oct. 11, 2023. Dante was released on conditions for court Nov. 1, 2023, and the youth was released on conditions with a court date of Oct. 16, 2023.
This residence is located within a half block of 4 schools in the community. The proximity of the drug residence in relation to schools, is of the upmost concern to the citizen and the police as this creates a great risk due to the potential drug sales to minors and presence of violence associated to the drug culture.
