Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) has appointed Kendall Johnson as the new Assistant Principal at the Ponoka Elementary School (PES).

Johnson brings over two decades of experience within the elementary grades, showcasing her deep commitment to fostering an enriching educational environment for younger students.

Her recent role at Alix MAC School has honed her leadership skills and she is recognized for her innovative approach to education and her ability to positively influence school culture, a WCPS press release said.

Johnson joins the team at PES of Principal Nathan McEntee and Shelagh Hagemann, Assistant Principal.

“Nathan and Shelagh are thrilled to welcome Kendall to the team at Ponoka Elementary School," said Sonja Dykslag, Assistant Superintendent of People Services. "Her extensive experience and enthusiastic approach to elementary education make her perfectly suited to enrich the learning community in Ponoka."

Johnson received a Master of Educational Technology and is a graduate of the WCPS Aspiring Leaders program. Her educational background and leadership training equip her with the tools to enhance educational practices and integrate technology effectively within the learning environment, the release said.

"I am excited to join Ponoka Elementary School and look forward to working closely with the students, families, and staff," said Johnson. "While I will greatly miss my colleagues and the community at Alix MAC School, I am eager to bring my passion and experience to Ponoka and contribute to its thriving educational setting."

Johnson’s transition to the role of Assistant Principal at PES comes as Jay Cottell moves to Eckville Elementary School to serve as Principal.
