Construction is now complete for the Iron Ridge Secondary Campus (IRSC) in Blackfalds.

The school is among five other public-private partnership (P3) high schools across the province that will open to Grade 9 to Grade 12 students this fall.

“We are building schools in Alberta’s fastest-growing communities. These new schools will create more than 6,900 spaces for students to get the most out of their education, make life-long friends, and discover their passions,” said Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education.

In September, Grade 9 programming will move from Iron Ridge Junior Campus to IRSC. Iron Ridge Elementary and Intermediate grades will remain unchanged. Iron Ridge Junior Campus will become a Grade 7 and Grade 8 school, the IRSC website said.

Planning is also underway for Grade 7 and Grade 8 students at Iron Ridge Junior Campus to utilize CTS programming at IRSC in the fall.

Going forward, procurement is underway for another bundle of P3 schools in the province, including a kindergarten to Grade 5 school in Blackfalds.

IRSC will join Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) existing schools in Blackfalds: Iron Ridge Elementary Campus, Iron Ridge Intermediate Campus, and Iron Ridge Junior Campus.
