Update:

On Jan. 5, 2024, Rocky Mountain House RCMP received a report of a serious multi vehicle collision on Highway 11 and Range Road 45 in Clearwater County. Upon arrival, investigators located a deceased person inside one of the vehicles. The deceased has been identified as a 17-year-old Clearwater County resident. 3 other vehicles including a semi truck had varying levels of damage. The occupants in those vehicles suffered minimal injuries. Officers had the highway blocked for many hours while police investigated and the semi was removed. The highway is now open.

Although early in the investigation, police believe that the deceased struck an oncoming semi truck. Two other vehicles then struck the semi as it lost control.

Police believe that heavy fog and icy roads were factors in the collision.

Alberta RCMP offer their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
