On Jan. 27, 2024, at 7:09 a.m., Ponoka RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress at a commercial property off 50 Street in Ponoka. General Duty members with the assistance of Ponoka Traffic Services responded quickly and arrested two male suspects who attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Joel William Hofer (35), a resident of Calgary, Alta. has been charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Fail to comply with Release Conditions
  • Theft Under $5000

David Andre Letourneau-Janveaux (30), a resident of Calgary  has been charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of Break in instruments
  • Fail to comply with Release Conditions
  • Theft Under $5000

Both Hofer and Letourneau-Janveaux were held for Judicial Interim Release Hearings.

Letourneau-Janveaux was remanded for court on Jan. 30, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.

Hofer was remanded into custody with his next court date set for Fe. 1, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
