UPDATE: January 3rd, 4:50 pm

On Jan. 2, 2023, at 10:38 p.m. Airdrie RCMP received a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 9 East of Range Road 252. Upon arrival, officers observed that a passenger car had a head on collision with a semi tractor trailer. The driver of the car, a 39-year-old male resident of Red Deer, was taken to hospital by EMS with serious life threatening injuries. The passenger in the car ,a 51-year-old female resident of Red Deer, was deceased.

RCMP remained on scene for several hours investigating the collision.

Although early in the investigation, RCMP have been able to determine that the passenger car was driving East bound in the West bound lane when it was struck by the oncoming semi. Fog was heavy at the time of the collision and may have been a factor.

Airdrie RCMP have confirmed one fatality in a Tuesday night collision on Highway 9 near Beiseker.

The multi-vehicle crash at Range Road 252 and Highway 9 had traffic diverted for hours as emergency services were called in.

At 7:05 Wednesday morning, RCMP said the crash has now been cleared.

An update should be released later today.
