Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) has launched a two-year Executive Assistant Diploma program for the upcoming fall term.

The program builds on the polytechnic’s one-year Administrative Professional Certificate, expanding students' knowledge and skills in areas of business including accounting, computer software training, and human resources.

“As a polytechnic, we are proud to offer enhanced education, training, and applied research opportunities among a growing breadth of credentials,” said Dr. Robbie Halonen, Dean, Donald School of Business, Science and Computing. “The new Executive Assistant Diploma will help to increase the employability and earning potential of graduates while helping to fulfill the demand of Alberta’s labour market.”

RDP Administrative Professional Certificate graduates are eligible to enter the second year of the Executive Assistant program.

Through the diploma program, students will develop skills in communication, technology, and relationship building to support senior executives and colleagues.

Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings through work-integrated learning.

After completing the program, students will have the skills and training to fill roles including executive assistant, office coordinator, administrative manager, and event coordinator.

The program will be offered on the RDP main campus, and online.
