The Red Deer Outreach Centre received a $2,000 donation from the Gulls Give Foundation to support the Adopt a Family program.

The funds from the donation were used to support families and individuals struggling with food security or purchasing warm clothing.

“We were lucky enough to receive that donation. It was used over the Christmas holidays for those families that needed support in 2023 over Christmas time,” Dustin Moore, Outreach Centre Fund Development and Event Specialist said.

Last year, the program supported over 700 individuals, including 223 families, and 485 youth.

“With the economy and interest rates and everything where it is, it was really cool to see all of the donations and all of the business support over the Christmas season,” Moore said.

He explained the Adopt a Family program is part of the Outreach Centre’s poverty reduction pillar to offer additional support during difficult times.

“Adopt a Family just provides that extra bit of support over some tough times, one being the holiday season,” Moore said.
