On April 30th, Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), with support from Police Dog Services (PDS), Red Deer RCMP Intelligence Analysts and K Division Digital Forensic Services, concluded a four month long investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs within the city Red Deer.

Police executed search warrants on two residences: one located in the Johnstone Park neighbourhood of Red Deer and the second property located in the Allard neighbourhood of Edmonton.

Police seized a total of 28.7 grams of cocaine and 45,000 dollars in Canadian currency.

Buay Tung, a 30-year-old resident of Edmonton, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance
  • Trafficking a controlled substance (cocaine)
  • Possession of proceeds of crime

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Buay was released by a Justice for the court on a Release Order. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 23.
