Speed skaters from across Alberta raced at Setters Place Oval at Great Chief Park in Red Deer over the weekend (January 20 and 21) for the Annual Jeremy Wotherspoon Long Track meet.

Youth aged 11-13 raced to qualify Canadian Youth Long Track Championships in Quebec City from February 9-11. However, skaters of all ages were present for the event. The Neo Juniors held Olympic Style Races in 500m, 1,000m, and 3,000m quads.

Some skaters from Calgary experienced skating on natural ice for the first time. The colder weather and snowy conditions were an extra challenge for the athletes over the weekend.
