On Sept. 17, 2023, at 6:20 a.m. Wetaskiwin RCMP received a report of a discharge of a firearm at a residence on Mountain Ash Drive and 52 street in Wetaskiwin. Upon arrival, , RCMP were advised that during a dispute the suspect had fired a gun into the ceiling and the suspect was still in the residence.

RCMP set up containment and activated the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT). Upon ERT entering the residence a thorough search was conducted however, the suspect was not located.

After continued investigation, RCMP have located what is believed to be the firearm used, additionally RCMP located the suspect at a nearby residence.

RCMP have charged 20-year-old Maskwacis resident, Travis Bull with:

  • Recklessly discharge a firearm
  • Possession of weapon contrary to order (x2)
  • Weapons offences (x2)

Bull was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with his next court appearance set for Sept. 26, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
