Starting on Monday, Lacombe residents are asked to keep an on their door handles as the Lacombe and Community Food Bank will be attaching bags to them.

Lloyd Gorbenko, a board member with the Food Bank says this is a busy time for them. “This is our main food drive that we do once a year. We usually do it on the last Saturday in October. And then, on Saturday the 28th, at 3:00, we pick up the food from the porches.”

Residents are asked to fill the bags with non-perishable food items such as peanut butter, sardines, salmon, spaghetti, macaroni and soups.

Gorbenko says they have about 22 vehicles and many runners who collect the bags on Saturday. When asked if they still need volunteers he says yes definitely. “We're meeting at CHCS Gym, which is right at the college here, at 2:30. Then at 3:00 everybody heads out and usually by 5 or 530, we're done.”
