The Lacombe Minor Baseball Association (LMBA)  is holding a big tournament this weekend.

The LMBA "A" tournament will kick off Friday and will run right through the weekend with the finals on Sunday at Michener Park in Lacombe.

This is one of the biggest baseball tournaments in Central Alberta. Over 40 games are scheduled with teams ranging in age from U9-U18.

Shannon Bruns, The President of LMBA, says there are teams coming from many places.

"We have teams from all over including Hinton and Edson. We have a few more Central Alberta teams as well. But throughout all of Alberta  there's not too many tournaments, so this is a very highly coveted tournament. Teams are always eager to be able to come to Lacombe and play."

Bruns also talks about the value to the community holding a big tournament like this.

"We always highly promote some of our best supporters, some of the local restaurants and of course Red Sports. We encourage all the families to check out all that Lacombe has to offer. We're very proud of our city. We're very proud of our ball diamonds and yeah, this is always a good weekend for us to show off Lacombe minor baseball and Lacombe."

The opening ceremonies will be held Friday, May 31st,  on Diamond 13 at 6:15 pm.

There will be an online 50/50 raffle and a toonie bat raffle.

Here is a list of the schedules by age group. (U9 schedule not posted on website)
