Three Alberta Health Services (AHS) clinics at the 49th Street Community Health Centre (4755 49 St.), including the Diabetes Specialty Care Clinic, will be moving this month.

Effective Oct. 12, the diabetes clinic will move into the Medical Specialty Clinic on the first floor at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. The clinic provides ongoing support and education to individuals with diabetes. This includes adult, pediatric and diabetes in pregnancy care.

The relocation will support clinic growth and enhance the ability of clinic teams to work closely with the hospital’s new endocrinologist, Dr. Haiju Chirayath, as part of establishing a new endocrinology service in Red Deer.

There will be no change in program delivery or services available to patients as the diabetes clinic moves to its new location. The clinic’s toll-free contact information will remain the same.

Following the move of the diabetes clinic, the Sexual Health program will move into the vacated space at 49th Street Community Health Centre, with Children’s Rehabilitation Services moving into the former Sexual Health program space. Both programs will enjoy increased space to help meet growing service demands.

Services provided by Children’s Rehabilitation Services and the Sexual Health program will not change for patients when they relocate.

AHS offers thanks to the care teams for their flexibility in relocating as AHS works to enhance community programs within Red Deer, and to patients for their understanding and patience during this transition period.
